Welcome to the home of the Northeast Huskies!

Skate where the UCONN Huskies Men and Women Teams Play and Practice.

Affiliated with the UConn Huskies, we are a non-profit youth hockey association offering programs for children ages 3-18 years old.  Programs include travel teams from the Mite through Midget level, and Learn to Skate/Learn to Play and In House programs. The Northeast Huskies skate at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum on the UConn campus.  The Northeast Huskies not only offer in season general skills clinics as well as goalie clinics that are hosted by the UConn Men and Women hockey teams, but we also have a wealth of talented coaches!

USA Hockey Safe Sport

The safety of our participants is of paramount importance to The Northeast Huskies and USA Hockey. This includes not only on-ice safety, but also off-ice safety in all parts of The Northeast Youth Hockey’s programs and activities. The SafeSport Program is intended to protect all participants, not just players, from any type of misconduct or abuse on and off the ice, and to better educate everyone to prevent and deal with issues should they arise.

Education is the key component in providing awareness, maximizing safety and responding to concerns.

Effective as of the 2013-2014 season, all local association must have a SafeSport Coordinator who has completed the SafeSport Training Program and who will be responsible for insuring that all members of the program who have contact with minor players also complete the prescribed training materials. This includes board members, administrators, coaches, referees, team managers, locker room monitors, chaperones and drivers.

The SafeSport Program is designed to create a safe and positive environment for its participants‘ physical, emotional and social development in an environment free from abuse and misconduct. In addition to the identification, minimization, and response values obtained from the training materials, we are also setting a standard in youth sports by making a strong public statement that our organization places a priority on the safety of all our participants.

The Northeast Youth Hockey Association encourages all parents to take the USA Hockey SafeSport module at USAHockey.com.
